Half double crochet (hdc)

A little taller than single crochet: soft, quick, and the stitch most of our hats use. In UK patterns it is called half treble (htr).

Step 1
Yarn over first, so there are 2 loops on the hook.
Step 2
Put the hook into the next stitch.
Step 3
Yarn over and pull up a loop. You now have 3 loops on the hook.
Step 4
Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops at once.

Good to knowIf the last pull is hard, keep the loops a little looser and turn the hook down as you pull.
