Double crochet (dc)

A tall stitch that grows fast and drapes well. Granny squares are made of it. In UK patterns it is called treble (tr).

  1. Step 1

    Yarn over, so there are 2 loops on the hook.

  2. Step 2

    Put the hook into the next stitch.

  3. Step 3

    Yarn over and pull up a loop. You now have 3 loops on the hook.

  4. × 2
    Step 4

    Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. 2 loops are left.

  5. × 2
    Step 5

    Yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops. One double crochet is done.

Good to knowTwo pulls of two loops each: say “through two, through two” as you work.
